James Golden lived in Rathmines, Dublin. He studied at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art alongside artists including Seán Keating, James Sinton Sleator and Harry Clarke. Golden subsequently became a teacher at the school. Golden exhibited three etchings at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1917 and a further etching in 1918.
